Amy’s birthday is happening; as the founder and CEO of Evy’s Tree, it is always fun to recognize and celebrate her! She absolutely adores the new Alana coming out this week, and in discussing the Alana we grabbed the opportunity to ask her for a few of her other favorite things, and discovered a fascinating story about the early days of Evy’s Tree in the process.
We know how much she loves the Frances Ford Coppola winery in the heart of wine country and in particular, the Sofia wine (possibly a nod to her close relationship with her own father, since the Sofia wine began as a gift from a father to his daughter?), having attended the launch of the Sofia wine with the Coppola family. What we did not know was that this beautiful winery was also the scene of a fortuitous meeting at a crucial stage in Evy’s Tree and its growth. Amy had reached the point where her grass roots, garage-based embellished hoodie business had outgrown her home, but tentative steps into the next level of factory manufacturing had so far proved to be faltering at best. She needed professional help from someone who knew fashion and manufacturing far beyond any of her knowledge or experience. While visiting the Coppola winery with her family and spending a day lounging at the pool there for some mental rejuvenation, she struck up a conversation with a nice tourist woman sitting next to her. This happened to be Sharon Young, of the Dallas based Sharon Young, Inc. Sharon was enjoying a wine country getaway and became so fascinated by Amy’s tales of embellishing and selling hoodies from her living room, that she ended up returning home with Amy and Brandon that very day to check the hoodies out for herself! Amy soon partnered with Sharon to upgrade her hoodie designs, connect to ethically operated factories around the world, and launch successfully into the world of manufacturing and distribution. For many reasons, including this special memory, the Coppola winery is one of Amy’s favorite things.
Amy has always enjoyed supporting local businesses, and that has become even more important recently during the global pandemic and economic fallout that has put enormous strain on small local shops. Supporting certain businesses, however, its not at all a challenge…but rather, it’s a challenge to limit her visits! The Sift Dessert Bar in Napa, another wine country local gem, is a delight to visit for all of its menu options, but the Pink Champagne Cupcake is Amy’s favorite cupcake ever in the history of cupcakes. This Sift location was the winner in a Cupcake Wars episode, so you’re sure to find something to please your tastebuds if the Pink Champagne isn’t your choice.
Lastly, one of Amy’s favorite local business is the Italian Riviera Ristorante in Santa Rosa. These Italian immigrants have been bringing delicious Italian food to the hungry stomachs of Sonoma Country residents for over 25 years, but it’s their salmon that brings Amy to their doors nearly once a week. In fact, we have it on good authority that after long and stressful days, that salmon doesn’t even make it home to her dinner table…it disappears on the way home because she can’t even wait that long to eat it!
And finally, we would like for you to meet Amy’s new favorite Evy’s Tree statement piece, which is in-stock and ready to ship immediately!
